H. Edward Bruckner's wife Pauline Ernst is listed in the 1880 census as a servant in the house of John & Matilda McMechan in Otoe County, NE. Edward & Pauline were married in the McMechan house in 1882.
Some time prior to 1882, Edward Bruckner moved from Wisconsin to Nebraska because his mother had a cousin that lived in Nebraska. It is possible that John Mcmechan, or his wife Matilda Ballentine, were those cousins and that Edward met his future wife Pauline because she worked in the McMechan home.
