Historical German Maps

These maps show how Germany changed from the 19th to the 21st centry.
The red dotted lines shows the current border of Germany.
From 1815 (after the defeat of Napolean) to 1871 Germany consisted
of several kingdoms, each with their own monarch.
The Henke, Pehlke, & Storschein families came from West Prussia.
The Bruckner's came from in, or near Saksony (Saxony).

In 1871 the Geman kindoms were combined to form the German Empire/Realm.

After WW1 West Prussia and other areas of Gemany were given to Poland.
East Prussia remained a part of Gemany

After WW2 East Prussia and Poland were given to Russia.
Russia ruled Poland until 1990.
Other parts of Germany where also given to Russia and East Germany was created by Russia.
East Germany was called the German Demacartic Republic and was controlled by Russia utill 1990.
