Benjamin A. Cady Land Grand
This is a copy of the 10 May 1866 land grant for 40 acres of land obtained by B. A. Cady (father of Myrtle Cady who married Carl C. Cottrell). He apparently obtained this land after he was discharged from Civil War duty in April of 1866. Land was often granted (given) to soldiers for their military service. The map at the following link shows that he owned 80 acres about 1890 so he apparently acquired an additional 40 acres later.
